Age Calculator

Calculate exact age in years, months, and days from date of birth.

?What is the Age Calculator?

An age calculator precisely determines how old a person is based on their date of birth and the current date. Beyond the basic years-months-days breakdown, this calculator also shows the day of the week you were born, the total number of days you have been alive, how many hours and minutes that represents, and how many days remain until your next birthday. It is useful for checking age eligibility for travel visas, employment, driving licenses, pensions, and age-restricted events, as well as for celebrating milestones like a child's 1,000th day or an adult's 20,000th day of life.

The Formula

Years / Months / Days = calendar-aware difference between DOB and today. Total Days = absolute millisecond difference ÷ 86,400,000.

Age calculation is calendar-aware, which means month boundaries are respected: from January 31 to February 28 is counted as 28 days, not 31 days, because February genuinely has only 28 days (or 29 in a leap year). The total-days figure is a pure timestamp subtraction and automatically accounts for leap days along the way. Years are incremented only after the same month-day in the target year has fully passed — a person born on March 5, 2000 becomes exactly 25 on March 5, 2025, not a day earlier.

Practical Examples

1

Someone born January 15, 1990 is 36 years, 3 months, 6 days old on April 21, 2026 — the classic years-months-days format used on legal documents.

2

A person born on a Wednesday can use the tool to confirm their birth day of week — useful for personal trivia and astrology.

3

A baby born November 20, 2025 is approximately 152 days old on April 21, 2026 — helpful for developmental milestone tracking.

4

Age-eligibility checks: confirming a person reached 18 for voting, 21 for restricted venues, or 60/65 for retirement benefits.

5

Life milestones: celebrating the 10,000th day of life falls around the 27-year, 4-month mark — a novel alternative to birthday parties.

6

Sports and academic eligibility: some leagues and programs have age cutoffs to the exact day, which this tool verifies quickly and reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Leap years are fully factored into the day-level calculation, so a person born on February 29 will see their 'next birthday' fall on February 28 in non-leap years and on February 29 in leap years. The total days lived also correctly accumulates one extra day for every leap year the person has lived through.
